Charla Perry

Charla M. Perry is a multi-media artist living in Covington, Kentucky.With a current focus on abstract images, shapes and vibrant colors, her work navigates the starry expanses of the subconscious, often filled with images of constellations, dreams, the cosmic universe and the swirling mysteries of the galaxy.From teaching High School French in her native home of Washington, D.C. to working in the publishing industry in New York and Chicago, and all the way to Los Angeles in the entertainment industry, she has drawn inspiration for her art during these many travels before making her home in Kentucky.Beginning in traditional, representational art, she has since ventured into new styles of Abstract art that have blossomed into a vibrant collection. Her next endeavor into Portraits consumes her passion these days.These works have displayed in juried shows and gallery exhibitions in Surprise, Arizona; Ware, Massachusetts; Covington, Kentucky, and Cincinnati, Ohio as well as some private collections.Beyond the canvas, her creative spirit bloomed through the pages of "The Exciting Travels of Tuffie and Giuseppe", a children's book she wrote and illustrated. This heartwarming tale of two adventurous friends, a tortoise and a giraffe, showcases another facet of her artistic universe.A graduate of Oberlin College with a degree in French and Studio Art, Charla expanded her creative horizons by earning an M.F.A. in Screenwriting from the American Film Institute in Los Angeles.Her abstract paintings invite viewers to unlock their imaginations through the vibrant kaleidoscope of dreams, evocative of galaxies and swirling nebulae. Her work invites the viewer to come along, dive in, and enjoy the ride.
